Don’t Let Resistance Run The Show

August 20, 2011

I am reading a book on exercise and how it impacts our mental health. As I turn the page from one scientifically proven point to another, there is an inner voice saying…yaddy, yaddy, yah. It is almost taunting the well documented information and filing it under ‘tell me something I don’t already know’.

The Art Of Reframing

July 29, 2011

My 4 year old and I decided to go for a hike last week.

As we set out on our first hill, I could feel the burn.  I felt anxious that my daughter may want to throw in the towel early because ‘it was too hard’.

Heart + Body + Mind = Movement

July 15, 2011

As I watch my four year old daughter enter the room, my attention is riveted by how much her personality and mood burst through her every movement.  It is like she can’t contain herself, and at any moment, a hand stand might over take her eager little body, or a quirky facial expression might sneak onto her unsuspecting face.  All of these gestures and dance moves offer a glimpse into who she is and what she is feeling.

Holistic Health Blog Blast Off

May 30, 2011

Me, a health blogger?  Ha. Now, before you go picturing someone who is at the peak of physical fitness, never lapsing into dietary transgression, I need to be clear about something.

Pain to Presence

May 6, 2011

Gratitude, in and of itself, is a gift.  My brain has slowly been wrapping itself around this concept.

How did this mind bending start, you ask?

Recently, friends of my sister lost their daughter unexpectedly.  Their daughter was full of life and happened to be the same age as my daughter.  My heart aches for their loss, yet I am filled with other emotions.  I have admiration for the dignity, determination and openness with which this family is dealing with their loss. I also have gratitude for my family. I am grateful for the moments that might have been lost to living on autopilot, but which I now cherish.
